| 4/29/65 Judson Timothy Spence was born at Singing River Hospital in Pascagoula, Mississippi. 1970 Judsons first live performance, singing Amazing Grace at the Sanger Theatre in New Orleans. 1977 At eleven years old, Judson is a part of a collaborative album called Bethel Sings 1982 At seventeen, Judson records in Nashville for the first time and releases his first solo album, Kidstuff, which also leads to his first publishing contract. 1987 Judson moves to Nashville and begins writing and recording a new group of songs with Monroe Jones that would eventually become his first major label release. Judson does a series of showcases on Nashvilles Music Row, creating a buzz that brings in a dozen different labels from New York and L.A. and creating a bidding war to sign Judson. Fun Fact: Judsons original band included Dez Dickerson of Prince and The Revolution. 1988 Atlantic Records self-titled debut released. The album was produced with Monroe Jones and David Tickle (Prince) and executive produced by Jimmy Iovine (U2). Fun Facts: Guest musicians included Jeff Porcaro (Toto), Rick Marotta, Billy Preston, Alex Acuna and Mick Jones (Foreigner) Judson recorded in the historic A&M Studios at the same time U2 was recording Rattle and Hum. Judson, Monroe and The Edge performed the claps together on the song Desire. 1st single, Yeah, Yeah, Yeah reaches #27 on Billboards Hot 100 Filmed videos for Yeah, Yeah, Yeah, If You Dont Like It and Love Dies In Slow Motion Yeah, Yeah, Yeah received moderate rotation on MTV Wowed industry audiences at the WEA Convention in New Orleans. Fun Facts: After the show, Judson and Julian Lennon did an impromptu show at the Old Absinthe House.Oops! Aiming for Monroe Jones, Judson accidentally throws a pie in the chest of Ahmet Ertegun, founder of Atlantic Records. Toured USA, Canada, Europe and Japan to promote album release Appeared on MTVs Mouth to Mouth 1989 Appeared in the movie Firebirds with Nicolas Cage as the singer in the bar scene. Covered Aretha Franklins Chain of Fools. Nashville votes Judson Male Vocalist of the Year, Soul Artist of the Year, and Funk Artist of the Year at the Metro Music Awards. Opening act on Debbie Gibson concert tour. Co-wrote and co-produced with Monroe Jones 'Wonderful Life' on the soundtrack for the Bill Murray movie, Scrooged. Recorded and produced the Dobie Gray song Drift Away for The Wonder Years soundtrack. Also filmed a video for the song which received moderate rotation on VH1..Made appearances on the MTV Mardi Gras special and The Pat Sajak Show. 1991 Coproduced 2nd album for Atlantic with Don Gehman (The Bee Gees, John Cougar Mellancamp, Hootie & The Blowfish) Fun Facts: Guest musician Brian Setzer on Love On The Rocks 1994 Judsons song The Power recorded on Amy Grants House of Love 1995 Nominated for Best Unsigned Artist at Nashvilles NEA Awards. Recorded independent release PainFaithJoy 1996 'The Power' chosen by Century 21 for national TV ad campaign. 1997 Began working on a new record for Pioneer Music Group with Bernie Leadon, founding member of The Eagles. Sang on Oscar-nominated song with Trisha Yearwood, How Do I Live Without You. Appeared on the American Music Awards, The Tonight Show and the CMA Awards with Trisha Yearwood. Fun Fact: Judsons voice was used when Trisha performed at the Oscars. 1998 Cher cuts The Power and releases it on Believe, selling over 10 million copies. 1999 I Guess I Love It briefly released before Pioneer Music Group closes its doors. 2000 Judson tours with Shelby Lynne, opening dates for Sting and kd lang. 2001 Wynonna cuts Judsons song, New Day Dawning and it becomes the title track to her album. 2003 www.judsonspence.com is launched Judson releases The Velvet Kitten Sessions. |
